I love the shimmering sunlight, the blue sky and umbrellas, the green plants...

Day 283 Fall in my town

Some of the trees are green and brown. The leaves are skipping the colors--just turning brown and falling off. Some trees, like this one, are bravely trying for a little color, but most the leaves have cracks and burned looking places. We are over a foot behind in rainfall this year.

Day 280 Drought

I did actually take some photos today, but still like these from last week's hike better. This first shot is taken from what used to be the lake-bed, looking at what used to be an island.

I'm standing out at the "island" and looking back toward the shore. The sand connection is usually under water.

And these last two are just because I like them! I think both these pieces of wood were underwater until this summer.

I just loved this tree with the webs and the sun. It made me happy when I saw it, and happy again when I realized the photo really did capture what I saw.

And I love this photo. I don't know why, really. Maybe the sort of monochrome tone with so much texture. I don't know, but I like it!

I'll probably be stringing out photos from Tuesday's hike all week. I'm working nights and my sleep patterns are wacky--not much to photograph!

Day 274 Rabbit Ears

Since I don't have cable, before buying the rabbit ears I could pick up zero stations. Now I get about 2.5 stations. The good news is that one of them always has football games on Saturdays. The bad news is that this Saturday one of those games was NOT the one in which Auburn unexpectedly beat Florida.

Day 273 (Sunday) Another Raptor

This is Honeysuckle, who is--believe it or not--a red tailed hawk. She's not an albino, but just started showing white feathers and ended up white all over.
