Day 212 Mystery trees

Even before I left Atlanta, I began seeing trees with yellow flowers at the tips. I've never noticed them before this year. They were also in my apartment complex when I got here last month, and I posted a picture (Day 183). Today I noticed what they look like now...and I still don't have a clue what they are!

Day 211 Monday's photo

Hanging my head in shame...I did not take one picture Monday! Here's a shot of one of my newly re-potted plants. I hope it is happy with the roomy pot and will happily grow.

Day 210 It cracks me up

Honestly, Karen...I'm not making fun of your church. This sign just cracks me up!

I wanted to revisit yesterday's photos. This butterfly intriqued me. It has a hole clear through its wings, but it continues to fly around seemingly unfazed, visiting flower after flower and doing what butterflies do.

Day 209 Botanical Garden

I'm so thrilled to have plenty of photos to choose from; I've been struggling for the past few days! I visited my "new" botanical garden today and it was a treat. If you are interested, there are lots more photos here.

Day 208 Happiness is....

...my first ever Chick-fil-A handspun chocolate milkshake (no, I didn't get whipped cream on top).

Happiness also is knowing a good friend thought about me while at her job (at Chick-fil-A headquarters) and took time to write an encouraging note (and send Chick-fil-A coupons).

Day 205 What in the world?

I went in this little jewelry box for something tonight, and realized it never gets cleaned out. When I move, I just lock it and take it. There are keys to who knows what. Buttons to who knows what. A screw? A nail? In my jewelry box? Rings from elementary and middle school. Add-a-beads. Coins obviously saved because...why? This box is very unlike me!!

Day 204 The haircut

I forget how curly it can be without some length to pull some of the curl out. (Well, it's 10:19 and no photos for today, so it's the hair or nothing!)

Days 201,202,203 High Museum of Art

View of Atlanta from one of the "bridges" linking various buildings of the High Museum of Art.

The last two are shots of the museum; the first is of the interior, the last of the exterior.

I went to see the Annie Leibovitz exhibit, but as a bonus found that Part One of the Louvre exhibit had been rotated, so that there were new pieces I'd not seen before. And of course I visited my favorite High exhibit: Veiled Rebekah.

Day 200 Hitting the road

I will leave directly from work tomorrow for Atlanta, and probably will not be posting until Monday night.

Day 196 Top to Bottom

A little fuzzy mirror shot...

...and my new $9 shoes!

Day 195 Saturday

For those who know me, it will be a surprise to learn I spent most of my day shopping. I began here, picking up the free kid's meal I won as a door prize.

I ended here, coming out of the grocery store at sunset (about 8:45).

Day 194 Office Park Pretty

I don't know what it is, but I admire it each evening as I leave work. Today I stopped, jumped out, and snapped a quick picture while no traffic was behind me. Not the greatest shot, but still...

Day 193 The story of my life

Lots of things started...not many finished.

Books out of boxes and on the shelves...sort of...along with other stuff...

Grandmother's perfume set nicely decorating dresser...along with a bungie cord leftover from moving.

The leftover contents of my "to be filed basket" spread all over my bed...where on earth does the rest of this belong?

Day 191 Morning "fun"

First thing this morning I tried out the treadmill at my apartment complex's fitness center. I've been watching absolutely no TV, so it was a novelty to see some news and read it via subtitles. I burst out laughing, all alone in the fitness center, when the subtitles gravely informed me that the Galapagos Islands were off the coast of Egg Door.

Here she is--sun striped Laura! (BTW, for those who may be interested, more lab photos are on my leftovers in a "Meridian" set.)

Day 190 Peek at the lab

I didn't intend for the lab shots to be my "photos of the day," but a thunderstorm at quitting time derailed my plans. So here is a peek from the back of the lab toward the front (can you see the windows in the offices at the far end? They make me so happy!

For those interested (yeah, right) the "lab tour" will be on my leftovers in the next day or two.

Day 189 Church #2

My least favorite part of moving is visiting churches.

This church meets in what used to be a tabernacle of some sort. Now it is called the Great Aunt Stella Center--do not ask me why! As I left church today, I saw what I should have taken a picture of! The sign out front reflects the various faces of the church building, I suppose. It says something like Self Help Great Aunt Stella Center Uptown Church. I cracked up, trying to imagine what I'd have thought if I'd seen the sign before knowing anything about the church.

The interior is very interesting. Dark burgandy carpet, large stained glass windows, huge pipes for an organ, old woodwork on the balcony rails and stairs, uncomfortable old (squished together) pews...it was a nice feel.

Day 188 Entrance #3

This afternoon I visited what is advertised as North Carolina's biggest tourist attraction: Concord Mills Outlet Mall. Well. I can check that off my list and never have to do it again!

Day 187 MeMama's Chair

I hope these are "before" photos, and that one day I can have this chair restored. It (and its two companions, now owned by other family members) were a part of my grandmother's living room all my life. Now that MeMama is gone, and her house is gone, the chair sits in my dining room, alive with memories.

Day 186 Bloom where you're planted

Hey Ampersand! I thought of you today!

Day 185 Happy Fourth!

At the recommendation of a co-worker, I drove out to this golf course to watch fireworks. The "hilltops" were lined with people, but I liked the shot of this couple. It was cool (amazing!) with a great breeze, and I had a nice time sitting outdoors people watching!

At the last minute I thought about using the fireworks setting on my camera. It yielded some interesting results! I'm putting some others on my leftover page.

Day 184 Exercise

I've been having trouble sleeping, which is something I've not struggled with for five years, so decided it was time to get back to an exercise routine. I swam laps this evening--boy, am I out of shape!

Thankfully, the "rules" are worded as "suggestions." I should not swim alone, which I understand, but...I don't have a swimming partner, and I really like having the pool to myself!

Day 183 Monday's photo

Behind again. Maybe soon I will get my days somewhat ordered again.

I noticed this type tree for the first time this year. There were several in Atlanta, and now I'm seeing them here. I have no idea what they are. The tree is sort of rounded, with these yellow flower things along the top. They are pretty, but I have not idea what they are! Anyone?

Day 182 Sunday's Photos

Since I had to post Saturday's photo this morning due to a memory glitch, I figured I'd better post Sunday's earlier than usual lest I forget again!

On the way to church, this lovely old store suddenly appeared around a turn and across the railroad tracks. The sign proclaims they've been in business since 1890, and I'm fairly certain they are still operational (there are new galvanized buckets and tubs stacked outside). I'm going to try to get back during the week; I am terribly curious about the interior!

Day 181 Saturday's photo

I just simply forgot to post yesterday! These little guys were cheerfully living in the lush grass surrounding the apartment's pool area.
