Day 180 Poolside

Theorectically my apartment building has free wi-fi poolside. In practice, it doesn't work for me. I was the only one out there, however, so it was nice and peaceful. I took some photos, then drove on to a wired restaurant to check email and post a photo. The computer man cometh in the morning. I bought a new router tonight in case that is the problem, hoping he would set it up for me if I had it in hand!

Day 178

This is the view at the top of my apartment stairs. Every one of the 4892 (or so) trips I made up the stairs while moving in, I thought how nice the view was.

No matter what this year holds, how long I stay in this apartment, or what life is like by Christmas, I decided my Christmas dishes were going to be a part of the family again.

Today I'm at the library using their wireless connection. This is the nicest library I've been a part of since the kids were tiny.

At work today, we had lunch catered--Olive Garden. Amazing.

That's what I kept thinking all day about work. Amazing.

Who knows what day it is?

My internet is out until the weekend. I'm sitting outside Panera's checking email. I have to figure my W-4, and need the online IRS calculator for that (mine isn't simple...).

So here are some photos from sometime....

Queen Charlotte, guarding the airport.

Nice airport landscaping!

Are they trying to get a North Carolina driver's license?!

I'll figure that out later.

Days 172-173

My home of two years as seen in the mirror of a 24' Budget rental truck. Good-bye, Atlanta.

Hello, Charlotte. My new apartment is a happy place.

Day 171 A long one!

It's 2:15AM. The truck is loaded. Finally. I'm eating ice cream before beginning to clean.

It's been a dirty job.

Days 169-170

Monday evening I ran out to my car to get clothes for a dinner date with friends, and since I already had my keys out, I hurriedly left when ready...and didn't notice I left my purse. So my camera spent the night in my purse, in the security officer's office (thanks, Richard!).

Tuesday I had dinner with another long time friend. Her fried green tomato burger with goat cheese was a sight to behold!

Daddy's desk...after

So here it is--Daddy's desk. He joined the National Guard at age 16 and was paid in silver dollars. With part of his first pay, he bought this desk and spent many an hour at it.

Refinishing did not make it perfect. Much of the character the years gave it remains. I like it that way!

Day 165 Before

My dad bought this desk with his first paycheck at age 16. Hopefully I'll have a nice "after" shot before the move.

The chair seat.

Days 163-164

Hectic schedule or not, I had to pull over on my way home to get a shot of this flower. I've eyed it for several days, and it makes me happy.

My life of boxes...but the sunshine is nice. The chair holding the box up is our "reading chair," so beloved that the stuffing is coming out of the arm and I keep finding more spots that are worn through. I really think it isn't going with me. Recovering would be very expensive, and I have zero confidence I could choose a fabric I'd love with the sofa (which may not be long for this world either).

Day 162 SCAD

Savannah College of Art and Design (Atlanta campus). I stopped today for a few quick shots of the display out front.

Day 161 Good-bye, piano

Grunt!!

The new piano owner, the keeper-of-the-file.

An empty spot in my home. That picture has never lived anywhere else but above the piano.

Day 159-160

Most of Friday night and starting again early this morning, we were unpacking at Tony's new apartment so I can have his empty boxes!

Tony's plants are happy with the move; the new home is a better one for them.

What is this? (See below)

It's a view of Tony's black and white kitchen floor through his cake plate. Nice!

Day 158 Get packing!

First box...let's get a move on!

First empty shelves...these cabinets are going to a new home tomorrow.

These glasses belonged to my grandmother-in-law...they are ready for the trip.

Day 157 Buckle your seatbelt, Spot!

You've been my friend since we were teenagers. You've stuck with me through good times and bad. Here we go again!

Day 153 Late night (early morning) snack

Decluttering, packing, moving...it's hungry (sleepless) work. Still a friend's move, not mine.

What I wanted a photo of was the two teenagers who helped load the very biggest, heaviest stuff. Ah, youth! They were oblivious to the weight or the stairs.

Day 152 Just read the directions!

Day 151 Thursday's Photo

If they are "all natural," that means they are good for me, right?
