Day 59 Wednesday: Last B&W day

I've enjoyed experimenting with black and white, and am better equipped to know when it might be the best option. It was helpful "challenge."

But here is a spot of color for the day.

And here is my "what is it?" photo!

Some friends are able to allow the luxury of deep, soul cleansing, cloud-lifting laughter. They reach into your heart, and say "be totally yourself--I like you that way." I received that gift today, and after the very difficult day I had yesterday, it was priceless. So thank you.

Day 57 Shadows

Here's my black and white for the day. The sun was incredibly bright today, making the shadows very sharp and detailed.

And a tiny spot of color.

Day 56 Sunday

It rained heavily last night and this morning, but I made it to church between the really nasty bouts. As I drove through the Jewish neighborhood, I was sorry that their big Purim parade and festival would be rained out. Amazingly, during our first service the skies cleared, the sun came out, and it was warm enough to be outside without a jacket! When I drove back by, the festival was in full swing.

Below is a photo of my church as seen from under my umbrella!

The cross is up in our sanctuary for Lent. I liked the way the baptismal is there at the foot of the cross....

And here is one from last night. I have no idea what this building is, but it was gorgeous when I came out of Circuit City!

Day 55 Saturday

I am not a city girl. This park is a miracle to me. I love the grass and trees and flowers. I love the people walking, biking, skating, and running. I love the people on park benches, blankets, and grass. I love the sounds of children laughing and playing and running free. All this...with the city always in the background. It is a miracle every time!

This photo does not do it justice, but I cracked up this morning at the sight of all the dog prints leading up to this trash can. No telling how many four legged friends have made use of this "facility."

And for Katrina: here is the bark I was comparing to the color samples for your dining room. If these look ugly to you, please don't be offended! They are beautiful in real life!!

Day 54 Friday!!

Two black and whites today. One from work....

...and one from the park.

And these in color from work for the fun of it!

Day 53 Sunny and breezy!

We got a preview of spring today! It probably hit 70 degrees, with bright sunshine and wonderful breezes (although I heard some people describe it as "awfully windy"). I got to eat lunch outside, and loved it that my jacket was left to grace my chair rather than being necessary to keep my body warm.

For some reason I can't fathom, the dental clinic had towels hanging on the patio railing. The photo doesn't really do them justice; I loved their white brightness shining in the sun and blowing in the wind.

Day 52 Seems I've been here before

I could just repost yesterday's photos, as I ended up in the dental chair again. Apparently my tooth has something against being protected.

But on to nicer subjects....

Yesterday I had flowers blooming in my yard (two daffodils and two clumps of crocus)! It was too dark for photos when I got home, but I took some this evening because they make me so happy when I drive up! No black and white today....

Day 51 Fat Tuesday

I ended up back in my dentist friend's chair today, having broke my temporary crown last night. As I looked around the dental clinic, I realized again how our facility's mission makes this dental clinic a bit different.

As patients wait for a dental appointment, they can: contemplate the evils of tuberculosis,

...hope their visit doesn't require the use of the cryer,

...and pick up a few samples to take home.

On a happier note, I learned yesterday that it is traditional in some homes to eat pancakes on Fat Tuesday--so figured that was a tradition I could enjoy! Pecan pancakes with maple syrup. Yum!!

Day 50 Monday

Boy, it was Monday all day! I took perhaps the fewest number of photos today than any day so far. As I've said before, when all else fails, photograph food.

Hey, what IS that in the bottom right corner?!

Day 49 Sunday

It's after midnight, but here are Sunday's photos. I spent the afternoon at the new Georgia Aquarium, and only took 214 photos! Below is a sampling, and if you are interested in more (not all 214 of them!), you can see them by clicking here.

Day 48 Short Saturday

I was busy all day, but sure don't feel like I have a day's worth of results to show for it! I'm a reluctant shopper, always putting it off until I am really scraping the bottom of the barrel. Today I gave myself a stern talking to, and headed out to conquer the shopping. OK, so I forgot it was President's Day weekend with lots of sales and hordes of shoppers. Yikes!

In the first store, by some weird alignment of the stars, I was almost the only one in the fitting rooms!

Supper at the Blue Ribbon Diner. I had a Blue Ribbon salad (with pecans and bleu cheese), then grilled talapia on black beans and yellow rice. Hooray for doggie bags!

One of today's purchases may look like a little trash receptacle, but it is a lot more. I was only able to get rid of its predecessor fairly recently, as bound up as it was in the fabric of my "former life." Then for a while I couldn't bear to have anything in its place. Today I caught sight of this one, and suddenly realized I wanted it. Healing is nice.

As I end this day, my feet are thinking of England, CS Lewis, and a wonderful meal at the pub he frequented. I bought myself these woolen socks while visiting Lauren at Oxford last year.

Day 47 Friday at last!!

Friday's here!! A brisk walk in the cold, sunny park is just what I needed. See the shadow walkers?

Hey! I found lamp posts in the park I'd not seen before!

And this one is to say "hang in there; spring is on its way!"

Day 46 Thursday

I had lunch today in the back of a van--a picnic! The sun made the interior warm enough, and I just couldn't bear the thought of staying inside that building during lunch!! I was struck by lovely sunlight on the avocado remains.

Meet a small portion of the LX20, our chemistry analyzer. Usually this module is tucked away out of sight, but it needed maintenance today.

Day 45 Valentine's Day

I started the day at the dentist, and spied this old home across the street as I was leaving. It was a cold, blustery day (even had snow flurries if you paid close attention), and the weather just seemed to fit the mood of the house.

Tonight I attended an Agape Feast with my Sunday School class. Someone went to a LOT of trouble to make lovely desserts! This one HAD to be in color!

Then when I got home, I opened my screen door and found chocolate, flowers, and a balloon. Good thing my heart is in good shape--thoughtfulness could scare a person silly. :-)

Day 44 1/2 Couldn't resist

So sue me. I've posted twice in one day (if I hurry). When I converted this one to black and white I loved it.

Day 44 Aging, etc.

Maybe these are middle aged. Not young and firm, but not yet a raisin!

And of course, I can't resist a couple of park shots.

Day 43 Monday

It was in the sixties today, so I got to eat my lunch outside in the warm sunshine. Probably the last nice day we will see for a while, so I tried to take advantage of it!

These dead flowers in the park fascinate me.

Sometimes the park trash is pretty interesting!

And one from yesterday, just because I really like it!
